Dear Parents:
Happy New Year! I hope all of you had an enjoyable Holiday and a wonderful vacation! There was a little too much snow blowing and shoveling for my taste, but it was nice to have some time off. Now, it's back to business here at Allen Avenue!
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and concerns during parent conferences. The Allen Avenue staff does a fabulous job staying in touch with you via email, phone calls, and their websites. However, it is nice to sit down with your child's teacher face to face and speak about how your child performed during the first trimester. Please continue to stay in touch with your child's teacher. Communication is the key to success! Please note that the second trimester ends on March 12, 2009 and report cards will be distributed on March 23, 2009.
January is a very busy month for exciting enrichment programs! Please be sure to check out the main page of the Allen Avenue website under Upcoming Events . The children truly enjoy these performances, so please be sure to ask your child about them. Thank you to Kelly Coscarella for organizing our enrichment program.
On another note, you may have noticed that we have begun selling "spirit wear" in the form of sweatshirts. We are trying to generate some school spirit, so we began by creating a logo for Allen Avenue. At some point in our school's history, we were nicknamed the "Eagles". I asked our art teacher, Mrs. Goldman, to have our Grade 4 students design a school logo. TJ Bourget's design was the lucky winner! Thank you to Kelly Bishop for being our point person on this project as she worked with someone to get our school spirit products created. We do plan on putting an order form on the our website if you would like to order one. In the meantime, please contact Kelly Bishop or one of our A.A.P.T. officers for orders. Other items are coming, such as water bottles and hats. We can not thank you enough for your generosity and your continued support of our school!
Please continue to dress your children for outside weather. The children will be going outside for recess as often as possible, weather permitting. Speaking of recess, thank you very much to the parent community for donating the funds necessary to purchase new board games for indoor recess. The children and the teachers appreciate it very much!
